Andrea and Tatiana to live in Madrid

Andrea and Tatiana Casiraghi (with their son, Sacha), are planning to move to Madrid, where Andrea will spend a year studying at the prestigious IE Business School.

The Princely palace has not confirmed the story, but if true, this is the first real sign that Andrea, eldest son of Princess Caroline, may be beginning the process toward an eventual succession to the Monegasque throne.

Andrea's uncle, Albert, the Sovereign Prince of Monaco, and his wife, Charlene, have been married for two and half years, and no children.

Andrea Casiraghi's stepbrother, Prince Christian of Hanover, is also a student at IE.

Marlene, what is the popular feeling in Monaco regarding their royal family? (i know the factual things about it, this is just the one place i'm not sure about how the people feel.)

for instance, we know that the british monarchy was thrown into turmoil after the whole Edward VIII thing.

obviously if Albert & Charlene do not have children for whatever reason, that is not the same thing as someone abdicating, saying "sorry but i want something else more than i want this role." but i was just curious if the monarchy there is stable enough that Andrea - who was never really raised to reign - will be popularly accepted, or if they will say, "sorry but we're ready to ditch this whole institution." i know things aren't as simple as that, just wondering what the general mood is there.

this is especially relevant given that Monaco is one of the very few places where the sovereign actually has POLITICAL power as opposed to a more symbolic role.

just to be clear, i realize Andrea's mother would inherit first... the reason i went straight to him is that he is not titled, and was never raised in the same type of way his mother - as the daughter of the Sovereign Prince - was raised. i guess in some way it would be the same sort of thing as Prince Edward's son James inheriting - yes, he is of royal blood, and was raised in the royal family. his father, however, was raised the son of the Sovereign. that's the kind of thing i was wondering about.

That is the worst thing they could do. Media in Spain is very very annoying, Spanish paparazzis follow celebrities all the time, they don´t respect privacy of people. Christian of Hannover can be living in Madrid and nobody knows, nobody follows him because he isn´t interesting for Spanish magazines but if it´s true Andrea and Tatiana move to Madrid, paparazzis will follow them day and night. Andrea and Tatiana will regret if they move to Madrid....

It is for a year, if true. Spain is a member of the EU, their photographers have to obey the same laws regarding privacy.

The IE is a highly regarded school, and one assumes, if the story is true, Albert recommended it.

Spanish Paparazzis don´t do it. I don´t know if there is any European law about privacy, but in case there is one, in Spain journalist don´t respect it. All the time magazines and private televisions have to pay money to celebrities because don´t respect their privacy. Last week an Spanish Court ordened to Telecinco Channel to pay 300.000 € to The Duchess of Alba and her husband because Telecinco recorded a private conversation of The Duchess talking by phone to the Duke. It should be necessary in Spain a code of Ethics for Media.

Michelle, Monaco would become a part of France if the monarchy ceased to exist. There are only about 30,500 Monegasque citizens, most of who live a very posh lifestyle.
