Queen Wilhelmina and Princess Juliana arrived today in the "liberated area" of the Netherlands by airplane to "take up temporary residence," reports the Netherlands News Agency.
Their arrival does not "constitute the Queen's final departure from Great Britain," but according to the announcement from the Free Netherlands radio, Wilhelmina intends to "spend some time" in the liberated part of the country. This is Queen Wilhelmina's second visit to her country since the German invasion in May 1940. In March, she spent nine days touring the liberated area, "but left immediately for London to take up her duties in the Government."
This is Crown Princess Juliana's first visit to Holland since the German occupation. She and her three daughters have been living in Canada, but she returned to London recently "to await the chance to go back to the Netherlands. Her husband, Prince Bernhard, has been "working with the Allies' armies as commander in chief of the Netherlands Forces of the Interior."
