Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark have been in Washington, D.C., on on official visit. I am sure the Danish newspapers have coverage, but here in D.C., there has been absolutely no coverage, apart from a photo of the Queen and her husband at the Library of Congress on the website, Politico. The news agencies have sent photographers, but the Queen has had the misfortune of being here the same time as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is on a State Visit to the United States. Last night, a State dinner was held in the White House's Rose Garden. This visit made the evening news and the front page of the Washington Post (as well as 3 pages in the Post's Style section.)
The Danish Royal couple meet Michelle Obama today at 10:30 a.m. President Obama will be visiting the Northern Virginia Community College in Alexandria at 11:30, so it is possible that he will be able to stop in and say hello before getting into the Beast for the quick drive to Alexandria.
