For reasons of health, Grand Duke Serge of Russia "has been relieved of the Governor Generalship of Moscow," but will continue in the position of military commander of Moscow, reports the New York Times.
For the interim period, the Governorship "will be "provisionally exercised from St. Petersburg" by the Minister of the Interior.
Numerous protests of the Socialist Revolutionary Party "served warning" on the Grand Duke and on the Chief of Police "practically condemning them to death should the repressive measures adopted in St. Petersburg" a week ago be repeated in Moscow. In spite of the warning, the "Moscow mob" suffered more harshly "than the demonstrators in St. Petersburg.
Since these threats were made, Grand Duke Serge remains in the confines of his palace.
