London papers "are still gossiping about Princess Louise of Saxe-Coburg," who eloped with Lieutenant Mettachich-Keglevitch. The "smart set was astonished" by the publication of the princess's allowance, a mere £1600 a year, according to the New York Times. Her husband, Prince Philipp, has a fortune estimated at £,000,000.
The Princess, the eldest daughter of King Leopold II of the Belgians, is living as Mme. Leman, and it said she plans to travel to America to join Donna Elvira de Borbon, daughter of Don Carlos, who has run off with Count Folchi.
Folchi is aid to be a cousin of Archbishop Folchi, Vice Chamberlain at the Vatican.Princess Louise apparently left Cimiez in a hurry as she received a letter from her father, informing her that Queen Victoria "had written to him to the effect that she would not receive the Princess."
