Elisabeth of Schaumburg-Lippe's marriage is annulled

November 13, 1928

Gerhart Hauptmann and his wife, and Princess Elisabeth and Benvento Hauptmann
The marriage of Dr. Benvenuto Hauptmann, eldest son of German writer, Gerhardt Hauptmann, and Princess Elisabeth of Schaumburg-Lippe, was annulled today by a Berlin court, reports the New York Times.

The couple were married only three months ago in a pomp filled ceremony at the isle of Rügen.

The Judge's ruling did not "lay blame for the estrangement on either husband or wife."   Neither the Princess nor her husband appeared at the trial, although both are "sojourning in the capital."
