Ernst Ludwig to help Isadora Duncan

November 28, 1908

Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig of Hesse and By Rhine, described by the Detroit Free Press, as one who dabbles "a great deal in art, is "expending large sums" of money on art work and theatre.  He is planning to help the American dancer Isadora Duncan to spread "her gospel of the true artistic dance."

The Grand Duke, who has the support of several "South German capitalists," has managed to persuade Miss Duncan to move her dance school from Berlin to Darmstadt.  He has provided a hall and other facilities at no cost to Miss Duncan.

The dancer has stated that she will accept no pupils over the age of five.  Her students will receive lessons in the "elementary sciences" as well as music and dancing.
