Grand Duke Kirill of Russia and his wife, Victoria, who live in Coburg, may have to leave Bavaria, and find a place where monarchy is more popular.
"Unemployed royalty, it appears, has become a serious problem in Bavaria, especially in Coburg, where former King Ferdinand of Bulgaria lives.
Grand Duke Kirill may have gone too far when he recently proclaimed himself as the heir to Nicholas II. Bavarian communists have been urging their Parliament to expel Kirill "as the republic cannot permit an alleged court to function within its borders."
Although the local government has been slow to act on its request, Kirill has been privately advised to seek another place to live "where monarchies are more popular" or abandon his claims to the Russian throne.
Grand Duchess Victoria Feodorovna, a British princess by birth, and the daughter of the late Duke Alfred of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, is currently in New York City.
