Is Princess Carl pregnant?
May 20, 1903
Happy news for Prince and Princess Carl of Denmark. The Princess, youngest daughter of King Edward VII, has suffered a "considerable sorrow," reports the Marquise de Fontenoy. Princess Maud, who has been married to Prince Carl of Denmark for the past seven years, has not been able to present her husband with an heir.
Although it not yet "officially announced," Princess Maud is said to be expecting a child. Until the "happy event takes place," the princess will remain "quietly at Appleton House, near Sandringham, until the birth.
The Princess has been in delicate health for some time, and "the birth of a child will restore her to complete health. She is very popular, and known by her nickname, "Harry," within the family circle.
