Alfonso's divorce doubted

Persons close to former King Alfonso XIII have neither declined or confirmed reports published in London that Pope Pius had annulled Alfonso's marriage to former Queen Victoria Eugenia.
Monarchist and Roman Catholic circles are also skeptical of the report. A member of the Spanish aristocracy, "expressed ignorance of an annulment, adding cryptically: 'This is an affair which it were best to leave untouched.'"
Spanish monarchists expressed "much doubt" about the news reports, explaining that the the relations between the couple have "improved greatly."
