King Frederik VIII of Denmark is ill with pneumonia but he is not "believed to be in any danger," reports the New York Times today.
The king's condition is serious, and is "causing general anxiety" throughout the country.
But the country's hopes were raised by a bulletin issued tonight by the king's doctors: "The pulmonary inflammation has not increased and the cough is abating. The King passed a quiet day. His appetite and his strength are good."
Queen Louise is also unwell and confined to her bed with bronchitis.
