Naming "Baby Windsor," Princess Elizabeth's first child whose birth is expected to be in November, "will be quite a task, the Associated Press reports.
There is "such a royalty variety to pick from."
If Elizabeth gives birth to a girl, "chances are she will be called either Mary or Elizabeth with Victoria as an added starter." A boy "might have to carry around as many as seven Christian names, like his great uncle, the Duke of Windsor."
The favorite boys' names are said to be George and Albert. There are no royal rules for naming the babies, as the "choice lies with the parents."
If Elizabeth and Philip "are satisfied with their own names, brevity will be the rule this time." The princess's full name is Elizabeth Alexandra Mary. The Duke of Edinburgh has only one name, Philip.
Other male names "popular recently in the family" are Henry, William, Alexander, and Edmund. Elizabeth and Philip could go back in history and "pick a few more that would be suitable." Richard "is one with a lot of colorful background." There are also such "stout ones" as John, Stephen, and Charles.
On the distaff side, there are a lot of names to choose from. Recent selections include Margaret, Rose, Alice, Louise, Caroline, Alberta, Maud, Charlotte, Augusta, Olga, Pauline, Claudine, and Agnes.
Anne is seen as a "good choice." Other royal names that the new parents might consider: Catherine, Julia, Theresa, Amelia, Sophia, Dorothea, Henrietta, Eleanor, Matilda, and a few "ancient gems," Adeliza, Berengaria, and Avisa.
