Prince Wilhem's last day in NYC
September 1, 1907. Prince Wilhelm of Sweden spent his last day in New York City today. He visited the New York Fire headquarters and the Immigration Station at Ellis Island. A dinner in his honor was held at the Arion club, which is located at 59th Street and Park Avenue. There was as largely German theme to the party, although the decorations where American and Swedish colors. The dinner was hosted by German students, and a photograph of the prince's maternal grandfather, the Grand Duke of Baden, who is an honorary member of the German student association in the US. The dinner was over by 11 p.m., so the Prince could get back to the Hotel Astor for a midnight departure by train to Boston, where the Prince board a ship for the voyage back to Sweden.
