Grand Duke Boris missed the boat. He had planned sail for New York yesterday. Instead, he found himself back in Newport, Rhode Island. He had boarded John Jacob Astor's yacht to travel to Mrs. Ogden Goelet's villa for dinner. Later in the evening, the Grand Duke boarded Cornelius Vanderbilt's steam yacht for the trip to Wickford, where he planned to catch the Colonial Express to New York. Unfortunately, one of the engine's feed pipes broke, and the yacht was losing steam. It took some time to repair the pipe, and by the time, the yacht limped back to Newport, it was too late for the Grand Duke to catch his train. He will stay in Newport for a few more days.
