The Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha became the first "former enemy Sovereign" to visit the British Royal family since the end of the World War, reports the New York Times.
He arrived earlier today at Sandringham as the guest of King George V and Queen Mary.
The Duke and King George V are first cousins, as both are grandsons of Queen Victoria.
Last October, the Duke's daughter, Princess Sibylla married Hereditary Prince Gustav Adolf of Sweden, grandson of King Gustav V. The Earl of Athlone, brother of Queen Mary, and his wife, Princess Alice, and other members of the British royal family attended the wedding, "renewing old ties" with the Duke.
Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone, is the Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha's older sister.
