European newspapers are buzzing with the latest gossip about Princess Louise, the estranged wife of Prince Philipp of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The princess recently eloped with Lieutenant Geza Mattachich.
According to the Chicago Daily Tribune, the "smart set" was astonished to learn that Princess Louise's annual allowance from her husband was £1,600. Prince Philipp is said to be worth £4,000,000.
Princess Louise is living as Mme. Lemain. She now has plans to join Donna Elvira de Borbon, daughter of Don Carlos, the Carlist pretender to the Spanish throne, who recently eloped with Count Folchi, said to be a cousin of the Italian archbishop.
