The Royal Rumanian Legation in Washington, D.C., is denying press reports that King Carol II is about to announce his engagement to a "princes of the house of Bourbon," according to the Associated Press.
The formal statement is as follows: "The Royal Rumanian Legation is authorized to deny statements published in some of the newspapers here to the effect that King Carol II might soon announce his engagement to a Bourbon princess."
The statement continues with "Queen Marie of Rumania discussed with Grand Duke Cyril at St. Briac the possibility of a marriage between Prince Nicolas and Grand Duchess Kyra, daughter of Grand Duke Cyril."
Grand Duchess Kira and Nicolas are first cousins, as Kira's mother, Victoria Feodorovna and Queen Marie, are sisters.
