Gundakar is the eldest son of HSH Prince Johann Baptist Moritz Heinrich Alfred Ildefons Benedikt Maria Josef von and zu Liechtenstein and HSH Princess Clotilde Alberta Maria Franziska Xaveria Andrea of Thurn und Taxis. Princess Marie is the eldest child of the HRH Prince Henri Philippe Pierre Marie of Orléans, Count of Paris, and HRH Duchess Marie-Therese Nadejda Albertina Rosa Philippine Margarethe Christine Helene Josepha Martina Leopoldine of Württemberg, Duchess of Montpensier.
Princess Clotilde was the elder sister of the late HSH Johannes, Prince of Thurn und Taxis. Prince Gundaker and Albert, Prince of Thurn und Taxis are first cousins. He and Hans Adam, Prince of Liechtenstein are second cousins, as they are great-grandsons of HSH Prince Alfred of Liechtenstein (1842-1907).
Bruno's parents are Brazilian and his paternal grandparents are Portuguese. Princess Marie of Liechtenstein told Point de Vue: "We are very happy. Bruno is absolutely charming and has quickly integrated into our family. We all appreciate him. A son-in-law after our own heart.
Princess Leopoldine and her fiance live and work in Lisbon. She runs her own art direction/illustration firm.
Point de Vue also reports that the civil wedding will take place in December in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. The Roman Catholic service will be held in Lison in February 2026. The couple share "a great passion for surfing, reading and traveling." They have been a couple for more than a year.
The Princess of Wales carried out her first solo engagement in 2025. She visited the Royal Marsden Hospital where she met with cancer patients, doctors, and nurses. Kensington Palace confirmed that the Princess was treated for cancer at the London hospital.
“I was just saying, coming in the front entrance here, having made so many quiet, private visits, actually it’s quite nice.”
She remarked to one patient: “The treatments are really so different and varied, it impacts families differently.
The princess also discussed her own cancer treatments, saying she felt “like I needed to get the sun. You need loads of water and loads of sunlight.”
Before leaving, Catherine spoke with a mother whose daughter is undergoing treatment. “I wanted to come and show my support for the amazing work that’s going on here and for those who are going through treatment and having such a hard time," adding “I’m sorry. I wish there was more I could do to help.”

After the Princess of Wales completed her visit, Kensington Palace issued the following statement from the Princess.
"I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year.
My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything.
We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.
In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer.
It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support."
A Kensington Palace spokesperson said the Princess wanted "to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides."
Dame Cally Palmer, chief executive of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, said: " We were honored to welcome Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales to the Royal Marsden in Chelsea this morning and are delighted that Her Royal Highness is now joining His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales in becoming Joint Patrons of our specialist cancer center."
The hospital announced that the Prince and Princess of Wales have become Royal Patrons of the Royal Marsden Hospital. The Prince of Wales has served as President since 2007.
"We are incredibly fortunate to receive Royal Patronage — it is inspiring for staff and patients and enables us to shine a light on the outstanding work our staff deliver every day for patients and their families."
