A new QVD HRH Prince Marko Aleksandar

Belgrade, 16 October 2026 – The Royal Family of Serbia proudly welcomes a new member of the Karadjordjevic dynasty: HRH Princess Dr Vesna, wife of HRH Prince Alexander, gave birth to a son, Marko Aleksandar, in Belgrade on 13 October in the afternoon. Both the mother and the baby are doing well. The parents chose the name symbolically, as it honors both grandfathers of the youngest Karadjordjevic.

Honouring the tradition and the family rules of the Royal House of Karadjordjevic, HRH Crown Prince Alexander is announcing the birth and the title that he has given to his grandson. “With great happiness and joy, my wife and I and the entire Royal Family of Serbia are celebrating the most joyous news that my son, HRH Prince Alexander, and daughter-in-law, HRH Princess Vesna, have become the parents of a beautiful baby boy, whom we are wholeheartedly welcoming into our family - His Royal Highness Prince Marko Aleksandar, my dear grandson.

Each childbirth brings joy, but knowing that Karadjordjevics are being born again in our homeland brings special happiness to my heart. It is what I had dreamt of for so long; it is hard even to imagine it actually happening. With sincere congratulations and wishes to the parents for good health and happiness, I am sharing my great joy of becoming a proud grandfather once again!”, stated HRH Crown Prince Alexander.

The parents, TRH Prince Alexander and Princess Dr Vesna, warmly thanked everyone for their congratulations, emphasizing that they are truly blessed and happy on this joyous occasion as they left the maternity ward and took their baby home. As they begin one of the most important chapters of their lives, with their newborn baby as one of the greatest gifts a person could ever receive, Their Royal Highnesses will focus primarily on family life and the private responsibilities of raising a baby.

We all wish the parents and the baby that the immeasurable love they feel and share guide them on this beautiful, but also very responsible journey.

Their Royal Highnesses are very grateful to doctors Natasa and Nenad Zlataric and the entire team at Euromedik Hospital for their commitment, dedication, and care throughout the pregnancy and childbirth. As the Prince and Princess said, the hospital staff was so professional and wonderful, and cared so well for the mother and baby, that although they could hardly wait to bring the baby home, it was hard to leave.
