The life of Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark was celebrated today at the Orthodox Church in the First Cemetery of Athens. The late Prince, the last surviving grandchild of King George I of the Hellenes, died at 85 on July 28.

Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie Chantal of Greece led the mourners, comforting Prince Michael's widow, Marina Karella, and their two daughters, Princess Alexandra and Princess Olga, accompanied by her husband, the Duke of Aosta, and their children, Prince Umberto, Prince Amedeo and Princess Isabella of Savoy-Aosta.

Queen Anne Marie, the widow of King Constantine II, who was Michael's first cousin once removed was joined by her two sisters-in-law, Queen Sofia of Spain and Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark.
Other guests included the Dowager Duchess of Calabria (Princess Anne of France), Princess Bianca of Savoy-Aosta, Princess Alexia, Prince Nikolaos, Prince Philippos, Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark, Prince Charles-Louis and Princess Ileana of Orléans.
Following the Orthodox funeral service, Prince Michael was laid beside his parents, Prince Christopher and Princess Francoise at Tatoi.
