King Alfonso XIII has decreed that former Queen Isabel II will receive every honor "paid to the dead," reports the New York Times. The body of the former sovereign, and grandmother of King Alfonso, will not, however, be met at the border by members of the Cabinet.
The Minister of Justice will alone accompany the body to El Escorial, twenty-six miles northwest of Madrid, where the burial will take place.
The black-bordered Official Gazette announced the death of former Queen Isabel but made not statements about the funeral. The Spanish court will "go into mourning for a year.
Queen Isabel died yesterday in Paris.
