Princess Dagmar, sister of the King Christian X of Denmark, died on Wednesday after a "long illness," reports the Associated Press. She was 71 years old.
She "renounced her title in 1922" when she married Jurgen Castenskjold, a Dane,who was master of the royal foxhounds, but to the Danes, she remained Princess Dagmar.
The princess is survived by her husband and four children.

The New York Times reports for the wedding - "At her own request, the bride will be styled as Mrs. Castenkjold, retaining the title of Princess only in the event of widowhood or a divorce.
