Compromise for Cumberland

March 4, 1879

Negotiations are "pending for a compromise" between Prussia and the Duke of Cumberland, reports the Chicago Daily Telegraph.

The news report did not provide further information on what was being negotiated, but one can assume the alleged negotiations concerned property and the Duke of Cumberlands rights as heir to Hannover and the duchy of Brunswick.  It can also be safely assumed that these negotiations came to naught in 1879.

The Duke of Cumberland -- Prince Ernst August of Hanover - married Princess Thyra of Denmark in 1879.
