News and commentary about the reigning royal houses of the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Spain, Monaco -- and the former European monarchies as well.
I wonder if she might do anything else....like elevate Edward to a Dukedom? ...especially given that we've heard Charles doesn't want to make him Duke of Edinburgh (the original plan when Edward and Sophie got married)?
I find the phrasing 'known as Queen Consort' interesting. Previous Queen Consorts have fulfilled the role of Queen Consort, but have been *known* as 'Her Majesty Queen _____', where the blank is their first name, e.g during the Queen's father's reign his wife (our Queen's mother) was known as 'HM Queen Elizabeth', rather than 'the Queen Consort'. This makes me think this expression of our Queen's wish on the subject is actually telling us of a subtle difference between how Camilla will be titled compared to how past Queen's Consort have been styled. Or I could just be reading too much into it...
As her husband would not have been king. She would not be queen. Likewise, were Charles to become King and she survive him, she would not be Queen Mother as she would not be the mother of a monarch.
The queen used the word Consort because that it is what the spouse is .. a Queen Consort, but it not a part of the title .. She will be The Queen and second reference Queen Camilla

Brava. And, so she should be. The institution above all. God Save the Queen.
Hypothetically, if Charles should die before Elizabeth II, will Camilla miss her chance?
This news made my day, Marlene. I've waited a long time for such an announcement.
