One can only the pain felt by  Maud Angelica, 16, Leah Isadora, 14, and 11-yearp-old Emma Tallulah Behn, the three young daughters of Princess Martha Louise and her former husband, Ari Behn, who commited suicide on Christmas Day.

Maud spoke with emotion and eloquence at the father's funeral.  Her mother was at her side.

“Pappa must have been so weary that he hadn’t felt any other way than to leave this world.  There I think he was wrong. There is always a way out. I want to tell everyone that there is always a way out, even if it doesn’t feel that way. People want to help, you can get help, and it can get better.

"We could never imagine that our own father would leave us. It's nobody's fault. We cannot blame ourselves.

"Suicide is like a deadly disease. Dad must have been so tired that he saw no other way out.”

Secretary General Tove Gundersen of the Mental Health Council told Norwegian TV channel:

“By giving a face to the bereaved, Maud Angelica has seized the entire nation,” she says.

The sketch of Ari, which was placed on his coffin, was done by Maud Angelica, who had planned to give the artwork to her father on Christmas.
King Harald V, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Prince Sverre Magnus, and Princess Astrid, Mrs. Ferner were among the mourners at the funeral, which was held at the Oslo Cathedral.  Prince Daniel of Sweden, husband of Crown Princess Victoria, and Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands, were the only foreign royals who attended.  Crown Princess Victoria, who is a close friend of Princess Martha Louise, decided to not attend the funeral and be with her young daughter, Princess Estelle, who broke her leg during a ski trip to Switzerland last week.

Princess Laurentien, the wife of Prince Constantijn, the younger brother of King Willem-Alexander, is Leah Isadora's godmother.
