Eighty members of the Habsburg family are now in "great financial distress," according to the AP. Former Empress Zita said this to a visitor in Prangins, Switzerland, where she and her husband, former Emperor Karl, are now living. The incomes have stopped, and they have "suffered great loss through the exchange rate."
Members of the family have been "forced to seek employment in order to live." It has been reported that several archduchesses have found employment as governesses, and "others are becoming maids." The archdukes "are entering business as clerks."
