"Friends of the couple" are expecting an announcement of the engagement of Miss Mathilde Townsend and the Duke of Alba, according to the New York Times.
Their engagement has been long reported in the New York Times, but never "definitely arranged," although Miss Townsend and her mother are now in Marienbad, and the Duke arrived shortly afterward. Miss Townsend and the Duke, who is related to the former empress Eugenie, were among the guests at a dinner party given by King Edward VII several days ago.
