Grand Duke Kirill of Russia is expected to visit the United States in mid-October. According to Russian circles in Paris, the Grand Duke "has received financial backing from certain American capitalists" who are eager to assist "to bring about a Government in Russia which would make stable trade relations again possible."
It is believed that Kirill's "journey is being undertaken with a view to consulation with these backers."
"Well-informed Russian diplomats" are said to suggest that, "unknown to the Grand Duke, his attempted self-nomination" as Emperor of all the Russias, has the secret approval of the Bolsheviks.
They believe the Monarchist cause will be weakened and divided into two sections. Russian emigrants who reside in Paris recently sent a message to the Dowger Empress Marie, and asked for her guidance regarding the succession. Marie, who lives in Denmark, responded by saying that she refused to believe that her son Michael Alexandrovich was dead and "therefore it was impossible to name an official successor to the Czar's throne."
