Archduke Otto has died
Archduke Otto died today at his home in Pöcking. He was 98 years old.

What to make of the Monaco wedding
The story is getting murkier and murkier. Charlene may have tried to bolt three times, heading once to take refuge in the South African embassy in Paris.

This leads me to a tale of a man who called himself Wilton and posted on several royal message boards for some years, and led people to believe that he was a close friend of Prince Albert. He alleged they went to school together. He said had (if I can recall) an English father and an American mother who was a female line descendants of the French branch of the Rothschilds. I have a superb genealogy on the Rothschilds, and nothing was turning. A search of the Amherst yearbook also proved fruitless to find a connection to the Rothschilds and to Prince Albert.
"Wilton" was apparently shocked by the news that Albert had acknowledged two illegitimate children, as he had not known about this.
He died about three or four years ago. According to the person who learned about his death, and who emailed me about, mentioned that he had registered for the boards under a totally different name, and it was this name that appeared in the obituary ... and there was no connection to the Rothschild, or an English father, and so on. Wilton had concocted a false persona on the boards. He did not know Prince Albert, did not go to school with him. He certainly fooled a lot of people. I believed him at first, but I began to have my doubts because of his claims to the Rothschilds. He was unaware of the genealogy, Le Sang des Rothschild by Joseph Valynseele. All of his "clues" about his family life were made up, he conned a lot of other posters. Amherst has a Memory section. A check of the Class of 1981 (and the year before and the year after) does not bring up a single obituary of anyone who matched the persona created by "Wilton."

This bouquet was designed and assembled by the Garden Club of Monaco.
It is composed of pink protea flowers, which originate from South Africa and are the emblem of the country.
The religious wedding bouquet
The bouquet was designed by "Armani" and assembled by the gardeners of the Prince's Palace
It is composed in shades of white with freesias, dendrobium orchids and lilies of the valley. The cascade design fits perfectly with the smooth lines of the bride's gown and her slim silhouette. The lily of the valley is the favourite flower of H.S.H. Princess Charlene; it inspired the design of the floral ramage embroidery on her wedding dress.
Seven girls, of around seven years of age, have been selected as maids of honour for the Royal wedding. One of them is from Monaco and the six others are from the neighbouring communes.

CREATION OF THE OUTFITS OF THE MAIDS OF HONOUR BY THE COSTUME WORKSHOPS OF THE BALLETS DE MONTE-CARLO
In April 2011, H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover asked Jean-Christophe Maillot, the director of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, to create the outfits to be worn by the seven maids of honour of the Royal wedding.
The Ballets de Monte-Carlo are unique throughout the world with a structure bringing together the Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo, the Monaco Dance Forum and the Académie de Danse Princesse Grace. The know-how of their costume workshop is visible in Monaco and beyond, through the shows organised by the Company during their tours all around the world. In recognition of the quality of the outfits that they create, the workshop of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo had the honour of creating the gala outfit of H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover in 2009 during the closing ceremony of the Centenary of the Ballets Russes.
For the Royal wedding, H.R.H. the Princess wanted to use traditional Monegasque outfits as a starting point. Jean-Michel Lainé, the director of the costume workshop in charge of this task, undertook some in-depth historical research to learn about the smallest intricacies of the traditional flower girl costume of the region. The study of numerous documents revealed that the original version of this garment dated from the 18th century, before constantly evolving until today. In consultation with H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover, Jean-Michel Lainé created a first prototype. The decision was made to go back to the original versions of this outfit, considered more modern than the later versions. For the Royal wedding, it was enhanced with the use of precious fabrics and brightened up with lighter tones. Each outfit will have required over 120 work hours to create.
DESCRIPTION OF THE OUTFIT:
- Silk stockings embroidered with the royal couple's monogram.
- Pants edged with broderie anglaise.
- Ivory petticoat in silk reps with organ pleats and antique broderie anglaise frill.
- Off-white silk taffeta bodice with embroidered front panel and black lacing.
- Short silk voile sleeves, edged with cream lace.
- Striped red and cream silk taffeta skirt with barrel pleats, decorated with three black velvet ribbons.
- Dotted Swiss scarf and embroidered white cotton apron.
- On every apron, beneath the royal couple's monogram, the name of the Principality of Monaco or the town from where certain maids of honour originate is embroidered.
- Cream fingerless lace gloves.
- Broad brimmed straw hat adorned with cream mimosa, lined with silk toile.
- Black shoes with velvet ribbon.
- Black velvet neck ribbons decorated with a cross in Provencal gold. The crosses have been donated to the maids of honour by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

CNNI has has live coverage on TV with an English translator for the service! (CNNI ended transmission when the bride and groom got into the car. Euronews not on my cable right now, so back to CNN.com to see the service at Saint Devote.
Ave Maria being sung. Service nearly over. As this was a Roman Catholic nuptial mass, there was less emotion from the bride and groom, although Albert winked a few times at his bride.
Did the princess borrow Crown Princess Victoria's wedding gown? I think she's pregnant. She had a peaked look when she arrived with her father, and looked like she was ready to barf. When the archbishop mentioned starting a family, Albert smiled at Charlene.
Princess Caroline was accompanied by her younger daughter, Princess Alexandra of Hannover. Her estranged husband, Ernst August, was not in Monaco, but his two sons, Prince Ernst August and Prince Christian, did enter the church with their stepbrothers, Andrea and Pierre Casiraghi.

I have been told that Euronews, the 24 hour European news channel, will be televising the religious wedding of the Prince and Princess of Monaco. Euronews is carried on many U.S. and Canadian cable companies.
Antoine de Massy mugged in Monaco
Antoine de Massy, the 15 year old son of Christian de Massy and his wife Cecilia, was mugged on Wednesday evening in Monaco. The assault took place on the Boulevard Rainier III. Five people, three youths and two adults from Nice and Saint-Laurent-du-Var assaulted the teenager, roughed him up, and stole his cell phone and wallet.
The young offenders are well know to the local juvenile courts. All were charged with robbery.
Antoine de Massy is the grandson of the late Princess Antoinette of Monaco. His father, Christian, is Prince Albert's first cousin.
