It's a girl for the Duke and Duchess of Westminster

“The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are thrilled to announce the birth of their baby daughter,” a spokesperson for the couple said.

“Both the duchess and Cosima are doing well.

“The duke and duchess now look forward to spending this special time together as a family.”

Lady Cosima Florence Grosvenor was born on July 27 in a London hospital.   This is the first child for the duke and duchess.

Hugh Grosvenor, 7th Duke of Westminster, and Olivia Grace Henson were married on June 7, 2024, at Chester Cathedral.

While some speculate that the Prince of Wales could be asked to be the godfather,  I am considering the possibility that the duke's maternal first cousin, Cosima Poloniecki (nee Crawley), could be named as one of the godparents.  Cosima is one of three children of Marita Phillips and her late first husband, Aiden Crawley.

Marita is one of Natasha, Duchess of Westminster's older siblings.  They are the children of the late Georgina Wernher, one of Queen Elizabeth's lifelong friends, and Harold Phillips.

Unfortunately, a girl cannot inherit the dukedom.  If the Duke and his wife do not have any sons, the title will become extinct following the present duke's death.
