H Ill H Countess Mariae Gloria Ferdinanda Joachima Josephine Wilhelmine Huberta of Schönburg-Glauchau was born in Stuttgart on February 23, 1960, in Stuttgart, daughter of H Ill H Joachim, Count of Schönburg-Glauchau and Countess Beatrix Széchenyi de Sárvár-Felsővidék.

She was 19  when she married HSH Johannes, 11th Prince of Thurn und Taxis (1926-1990).  In the 1980s, Vanity Fair dubbed Gloria "Princess TnT, the dynamite socialite."

Prince Johannes was gay.  He needed an heir to his fortune and estate, and the young countess proved fertile.  She was three months pregnant when they married in May 1980.   The couple had three children: (Princess Maria Theresia (1980), Princess Elisabeth (1983), and Albert, 12th Prince of Thurn und Taxis (1983).

Johannes' death in 1990 left Gloria with more than $500 million in debt.  She took business courses and began saving her son's inheritance, including selling off family artwork and other possessions.   Her son, Albert, was only 7 when his father died.  He is now 41 and remains unmarried.

I wonder how Gloria's good friend Hilary Clinton feels about her being named the "darling of the US hard right?'   The princess has become friends with Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and his wife Martha Ann.  She also has ties to Stephen Bannon.

Princess Gloria considers Justice Alito "a hero."  She is a conservative Roman Catholic who opposes Pope Francis and wants the Church to return to a more traditional stance.

Marius Borg Hoiby, the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, was arrested on Saturday for "allegedly violating a restraining order" that was issued after he allegedly assaulted a former girlfriend.

He allegedly used a private phone number to contact the victim.   Hoiby is also a suspect in domestic abuse threats against two women.  He has denied these charges as well as threatening another person.

Hoiby was arrested on August 4 at the woman's Oslo apartment.  He was charged with assault after allegedly "attacked her psychologically and physically.”  The woman,  Rebecca Helberg Arntsen, was treated for a concussion.  Hoiby was released after 30 hours in jail.

Police found a knife had been thrown into a wall, according to several Norwegian publications including Se og Hor reported.  There are also reports of audio recordings of Hoiby making violent threats against Arntsen.

The woman's apartment was "partially destroyed." according to the local media. According to reports, Arntsen allegedly claimed Marius hit her more than 100 times and tried to strangle her, leaving her unable to breathe.

After Hoiby's arrest, the police released a statement to the press: “Høiby has a relationship with the woman who was subjected to the physical abuse. The police do not have information that the woman has suffered serious injuries, but it will be part of the investigation to map out the extent of the victim’s injuries.”

Ten days after his arrest, Hoiby admitted to committing the crimes and he apologized to the victim. acknowledging he was in a "haze of alcohol and cocaine.  He also said he suffers from "several mental disorders."

Marius pleaded guilty and will accept whatever sentence is meted out.

After the news of his arrest was public, one of Marius' former girlfriends, Juliane Snekkestad, spoke publicly about the abuse she suffered from Hoiby when they dated.  Their relationship ended two years ago.

After her son's arrest, Crown Princess Mette-Marit postponed visiting the Paris Olympics to be with her son.  Her husband, Crown Prince Haakon arrived in Paris, he told the Norwegian media that Hoiby's arrest was a "serious matter," but declined to further discuss the subject.

Marius was convicted in 2017 of possession of drugs.

The 27-year-old is the Crown Princess's son from a previous relationship.

In 2017, Crown Princess Mette-Marit said about her son: “Marius has always had a role that has been difficult to define in the public sphere. He is and will be an exceptionally important part of our family. Marius became a symbol of the unusual choice we made when we got married, at the same time, he will not carry public duties like his siblings. He should not have a public role and is not a public figure.”

The second arrest occurred on September 13 at a hunting lodge in Gusdal, Norway, where Marius stayed with friends.  The victim filed a report with the police for "reckless behavior and imposed a restraining order" on Hoiby, who was arrested on September 13 due to a "risk of reoccurrence."

Hoiby denied the newest allegation.

Marius Boig Hoiby was born in Lillestrom. Norway on January 13, 1997.  His father is a convicted felon, Morten Borg.  Mette-Marit was introduced to Borg by her former fiance, John Ongby, one of Borg's close friends.  Ongby also served time for drug-related crimes.

The Crown Princess and Borg's relationship was brief.

When Marius was born, Borg was in jail.   Two years after Marius' birth, Mette-Marit met Crown Prince Haakon.   They married at Oslo Cathedral on August 25, 2001.

Marius has two half-siblings,  HRH Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus.  Ingrid is a member of the Royal House, along with her grandparents, King Harald V and Queen Sonja, and parents, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

Prince Sverre, Princess Märtha Louise, and Princess Astrid are now considered other Royals.  Until early this month, they were members of the Royal Family along with Märtha Louise's three daughters and Marius Borg Hoiby.

The Royal Family category was eliminated on September 3.

On January 13, 2020, Buckingham Palace released a statement about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family. My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.

“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives. It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”

Their last day as working royals was on March 31, 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex live in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Prince Harry celebrates his 40th birthday today.   He told the BBC:  "I was anxious about 30, I’m excited about 40. Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world".

Day 10 June 17 Windsor and Order the Garter

After a quick breakfast in the condo, I headed out for Windsor.  The view is the Thames as the condo is located by the river.

The bus stop for Clapham Junction is across the street.  A 5-minute ride to the station.  I purchased a return ticket and headed to the platform.   Much to my delight, a Costa Coffee stand is on the platform.

Yes, I will have a vanilla latte.   While I wait for the train, I message my friend to say I will meet her by the Victoria Statue.

Windsor has two stations:  Windsor & Eton Central and Windsor & Eton Riverside  I usually go to Windsor from Paddington, which means changing at Slough for Windsor & Eton Central,  across the street from the Castle.  This time I arrived at Windsor & Eton Riverside, by the Thames, and a short walk up High Street to the Castle.

I planned to arrive early to browse a few shops and take photographs by the river.

A beautiful morning by the Thames
This made me giggle as I have these two rubber ducks

This amused me.  Five Guys' headquarters is in Alexandria, VA

I was already sitting on the bench when my friend Katrina arrived.  We headed straight for the Garter line, where our tickets were checked.  It was now about 8:30.  One settled in the line, I went off to buy food for lunch.  Much to my disappointment the local Smith's (on High Street) does not sell sandwiches.   I walked to Peascod to Marks & Spencer, where I bought a sandwich, fruit, crisps and water.

Ran into photographer Paul Ratliffe again -- we were next to each other outside BP for the balcony appearance at the Trooping
Looks like the Crooked House may be getting a new tenant after several years of being closed
At noon we were let into the castle to get to our spots.  Time to sit down, enjoy the company, the view and lunch
I bought a chocolate heaven ice cream cone.

Katrina and her friends were in another section so we met up outside the Castle and walked down High Street to the King & Castle pub for dinner and a cold beer!!!!!!

And then it off to the train station and back to Battersea.  Tomorrow Duke's Lane.
