Queen Marie of Roumania, who is about to embark on an official visit to the United States, has requested that she be served American food when she travels to the US aboard the Leviathan. The menu will feature corn on the cob and candied sweet potatoes. Marie wants to make the trip "100 percent American." This desire to eat American food has many predicting that Marie will introduce American cuisine when she returns to Roumania. Due to Prohibition, the Queen will not be served liquor on board the ship as she declined the offer of special diplomatic privileges that would allow the serving of alcohol on the American liner. The Queen said she wanted to conform to American laws while on board the ship.
The Queen, who will be accompanied by her two of her children, Ileana and Nicholas, will drink only tea and fruit juice during the American visit.
