On Sunday night, Navalny won Best Documentary at the Academy Awards.  The film is about the plot to kill Alexey Navalny, a Russian dissident and outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin.  He is serving a nine-year sentence at a prison outside Moscow.

The film was produced by CNN and HBO Max.

If you read the credits, you might have noticed this:  Associate Producer Gloria Habsburg, who is HI & RH Archduchess Gloria Maria Bogdana Paloma Regina Fiona Gabriela of Austria, the youngest of three children of HI & RH Archduke Karl of Austria, head of the House of Habsburg, and his former wife, Baroness  (born 15 October 1999 in Salzburg) and his former wife, Baroness Francesca von Thyssen-Bornemisza.

Gloria is 22 and was born in Salzburg,  Austria

She is currently working as a Podcast production assistant for the Sharjah Art Foundation in Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates.

The archduchess has a BA in International Relations and Affairs from SOAS University of London and studied "colloquial Arabic at Birzeit University in Palestine, near Ramallah."

The Oscar is given to the director and producers of the documentary, unfortunately, not the associate producer.

Thank you, Marlene, for bringing this to the limelight! I watched the Oscars on Sunday night and was thrilled "Novotny" won an Oscar for Best Documentary. May the Archduchess be encouraged to bring more excellent filmmaking to the screen.
