Two rather nice Noble engagements.

Earlier today, I received news of two noble engagements that were announced within the families earlier this week.

The first engagement is between HSH The Prince of Castell-Rüdenhausen and Miss Sophia Mautner von Markhof and the second couple is HSH Prince Peter Lobkowicz and Countess Helena von  Khevenhüeller-Metsch.

Prince Otto Friedrich Carl is the 6th Prince of Castell-Rüdenhausen.  He was born at Würzburg on May 31. 1985 as the eldest of four children of the late Johann-Friedrich, 5th Prince of Castell-Rüdenhausen, and Countess Maria of Schönborn-Wiesentheid.  Otto succeeded as Prince when his father died on October 30, 2014.

Otto is head of the family businesses including the private Castell bank and forestry and land.  He is a first cousin of HRH Prince Georg Friedrich of Prussia as his father and Georg Friedrich's mother, Donata, were siblings.

Sophia Maria Antonia Margaritha Mautner von Markhof is a footwear designer and is the founder of VIER, a Munich based company.  She studied in Spain, Italy, and England.  In 2015, she received a BA in Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design and Development from the London College of Fashion.  She also has a master's degree from IED Madrid, Dirección y Gestión de Producto de Moda in product management.

Miss Mautner von Markhof  is the youngest of three children of Theodor Mautner von Markhof and Countess Maria Antonia von und zu Clam-Martinic. She was born at Frankfurt-am-Main on May 1, 1989.

Her paternal grandfather, Manfred Mautner von Markhof was a noted Austrian industrialist.  He was a U.S. prisoner of war during the Second World War.  He came to the United States in 1947 as Austria's first exchange student after the war.  He studied at Bowdoin College.    Manfred Mautner von Markhof was married to Countess Margherita Cassis-Farone, whose sister, Leontine, married Duke Albrecht of Hohenberg, the third of six sons of Maximilian, Duke of Hohenberg, the second child and eldest son of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg.

Otto and Sophia informed their families yesterday(Friday) about their engagement.

The wedding will take place in the summer of 2019.

Countess Helena Flava Lauretana is the second of four daughters of HSH Maria Johannes Franz Lazarus Maximilian Felix Hubertus, 10th Prince of Khevenhüller-Metsch, and Donna Camilla Borghese.  She was born at Rome on December 12, 1989.

HSH Prince Maria Peter Nikolaus Ferdinand MelchiorAlfons Lobkowicz was born at Munich on August 1, 1983.   He is the eldest of six children of HSH Prince Maria Erich-Georg Gabriel Rupert Balthasar Wenzel Lobkowicz and Countess Christina von Hohenthal und Bergen.
