The Prince of Asturias, the infant son of King Alfonso XIII of Spain, celebrated his first birthday today with an enrollment in the Spanish army, reports the New York Times.
The celebration took place at the royal chapel in the palace at Madrid.
The little prince "was attired in the uniform of a private of the 'The King's Own Regiment." He was carried to the altar by his mother, Queen Victoria Eugenia, where "the military oath was administered."
