King Oscar II and Queen Sofia of Sweden, "foregoing the unofficial character which has hitherto marked their visit to England," went to Windsor today to meet with Queen Victoria. Their Majesties were met by a guard of honor and Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein and Princess Henry of Battenberg, "who greeted them affectionately," according to the New York Times report. Queen Victoria "received her royal guests at the entrance of the Grand Quadrangle." After lunch, the Swedish sovereigns returned to their country residence.
