HSH Princess Victoria Romanovna Romanov has confirmed she is expecting a daughter. This will be the second child for the princess and her husband, Grand Duke George Mikhailovitch of Russia.
This will be the couple's second child. Their son, Prince Alexander Georgevitch, was born on October 22, 2022.. The new baby is expected later this spring.
The Italian-born Princess Victoria, 42, discussed her pregnancy with a Spanish publication, Mujerhoy. "We've had the experience, so the initial shock of becoming parents is over. When you're pregnant for the second time, everything is easier. There are fewer worries, and you're more relaxed. You already know how it works, what to do, and what not to do."
The publication's writer said the two children "will grow up together, and it will be a wonderful experience."
"I don't know," Victoria responded. "My husband and I are only children. We didn't have the opportunity to have siblings, and we'll have to figure it out. It's a different phase of life, and yes, I think it's going to be nice, especially for them."
Alexander is lucky that he gets to spend time with both sets of grandparents: Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia and her former husband, Prince Franz Wilhelm of Prussia, and Roberto and Carla Bettarini.
She added that both sets of grandparents are looking forward to their second grandchild. "Everyone contributes to Alexander's happy childhood. The relationship between grandparents is very different from that between parents. Parents must make the rules, and grandparents must break them."
On March 13, Grand Duke George celebrated his 43rd birthday in Spain with his wife and family, including "cousins of many other European houses." He is the heir apparent to his mother, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, who is the head of the House of Romanov.
Princess Victoria revealed the sex of her second baby in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Serra. She was asked if her son Alexander could one day reign in Russia. "If ever one day there is an opportunity, he will be ready. Now he is small, but without hassling him, we will soon begin to tell him the family history, as well as to the little girl I am carrying."
The Princess is expected to give birth in May, perhaps in Italy.
