One of the engagement images of HSH Princess Marita of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (1899-1967) and Prince Friedrich of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg (1891-1965) They became engaged in 1915 and married on February 5, 1916 at Coburg. Marita's full name was Marie Melita Leopoldine Viktoria Feodora Alexandra Sophie. She was the eldest daughter of Ernst II, Prince of Hohenlohe-Langenburg and Princess Alexandra of Edinburgh. Friedrich was the only son of Duke Friedrich Ferdinand of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg and Princess Karoline Mathilde of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenberg. Marita and Friedrich had three sons and one daughter. Their grandson, Christoph, is the current head of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg
Duchess Amalie Maria in Bavaria (1865-1912) was the only child of Duke Karl-Theodor in Bavaria and his first wife, Princess Sophie of Saxony. She married Wilhelm, 2nd Duke of Urach, in 1892. He was the son of Wilhelm, 1st Duke of Urach and Florestine of Monaco. Amalie died in 1912 following the birth of her ninth child, Princess Mechtilde.
