Queen Eleonore of Bulgaria is dead
September 12, 1917
Queen Eleonore of Bulgaria died at Sofia this afternoon, reports the Associated Press. She had been "ill for some time." Her husband, King Ferdinand, and her two stepsons, Crown Prince Boris and Prince Cyril, were "summoned to her bedside," and were with her when she died.
She was 57 years old. The cause of death was not announced.
Queen Eleonore was born Princess Eleonore Caroline Gasparine Luise Reuss, the daughter of Prince Heinrich IV Reuss and his wife, Princess Luise.
She was the second wife of King Ferdinand. They married in Coburg on February 28, 1908. Ferdinand's first wife, Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon-Parma, died after giving birth to her fourth child in 1899.
