Princess Marie-José of the Belgians, who is engaged to marry the Crown Prince of Italy, is looking forward to returning to visit Florence, where she once attended school, the AP reports today.
The princess has written to former classmates at the Nunziatine College of Poggio Imperiale near Florence as she wants to arrange a reunion with her classmates. She would like the reunion to take place soon after her marriage.
She "took the trouble" to write each of her former classmates to tell them about her engagement. To the school's principal, she wrote: "You can imagine my joy, knowing how I love Italy with an enthusiastic and faithful heart. I shall never forget the lovely years passed at Poggio Imperiale and will preserve throughout life a most tender recollection of them."
The principal noted that the Princess's Italian was "impeccable."
