King Carol II of Romania has expressed the wish to be crowned as King of Romania without Princess Helen, reports the Associated Press.

After renouncing his rights to the throne and living in exile for five years, Carol returned to Romania last June 6.  He was proclaimed king a month later.  His young son, Michael, who had succeeded King Ferdinand in 1927 was demoted to Crown Prince.

Carol had proclaimed Helen as his queen but she has refused to consent to his request for an annulment of their divorce.
