Grand Duke Boris arrested
Grand Duke Boris, a cousin of former Russian emperor, Nicholas II, has been arrested at Army Headquarters, and has been sent Tsarkoe Selo, where he is interned, reports the New York Times.
A dispatch from April 1 from Petrograd (St. Petersburg) announced the "recent arrest" of Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna, a cousin of the former Emperor.
There are two Grand Duchesses named Maria Pavlovna. One is the widow of Grand Duke Vladimir (and the mother of Grand Duke Boris). The other is the daughter of Grand Duke Paul, and, thus, a first cousin of Nicholas II.
The younger Maria Pavlovna is divorced from Prince Wilhelm of Sweden.
Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna was arrested with several others "in the entourage of Grand Duke Boris." This led the police to the "discovery of a plot" in which Maria Pavlovna and two unnamed grand dukes were involved for the proclaiming of Grand Duke Nicholas as emperor of Russia."
