Laurent agrees to "play by the rules"

Prince Laurent of Belgium has "vowed to play by the rules" after a "long meeting" with Prime Minister Yves Leterme earlier today.   He has accepted the new rules "governing his activities," ending "a controversy that threatened" his annual $400,000 annual appanage.

The prince's spokesman Pierre Legros said "a solution to calm things down" was arranged during the meeting with Laurent and the Prime Minister.

Prince Laurent will send the prime minister a "personal letter outlining the terms" agreed to during the meeting to prevent a repeat of the controversy," reports Agence France Press.
