Members of the Russian Imperial Family leave Russia

April 15, 1919

The Dowager Empress of Russia and nineteen other members of the Imperial Family "reached Constantinople several days ago," according to a French newspaper, Echo de Paris.   The imperial party also included Grand Duke Nicholas Nicholaievitch, former commander in chief of the Russian army, and Grand Duke Peter Nicholaievitch, former lieutenant general in the imperial army.

The two brothers, who are married to sisters of Queen Elena of Italy, have been invited to live in Rome.  They are now en route there aboard an Italian steamship.   The others in the party, including Empress Marie, will travel to Malta, where they will board a British warship and "await the decision of the British government as to their future place of residence," according to the Chicago Daily Tribune.
