Princess Margaretha of Sweden and Prince Axel of Denmark were married today at the Storkyrkan in Stockholm.
The princess, who is the eldest daughter of Prince Carl of Sweden and Princess Ingeborg of Denmark, was born on June 25, 1899. She was named Margaretha Sofia Lovisa Ingeborg.
Prince Axel Christian Georg of Denmark is the second son of Prince Valdemar of Denmark and Princess Marie of Orléans. He was born on August 12, 1888.

He and his new mother-in-law are first cousins. Prince Axel is also a first cousin of King Christian X of Denmark, King Haakon VII and Queen Maud of Norway, Prince Ernst August of Hannover (the former Duke of Cumberland), King Constantine I of the Hellenes and the late Emperor Nicholas II of Russia. Queen Alexandra and the Dowager Empress of Russia are his aunt.
After the Lutheran wedding, which was officiated by the Swedish Archbishop, a reception was held at the royal palace following the wedding. King Gustav V gave a speech.
The couple will live at Bernstorffshøj, a villa located near Bernstorff Palace in Gentofte, which they received as a wedding president. Prince Valdemar lives at Bernstoff. Princess Marie died in 1909.
