The Luxembourg newspaper, Tageblatt, recently spoke with King Simeon II of Bulgaria, who will be one of the guests at the wedding of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy.
The reporter asked the king about his relationship with the Grand Ducal Family:
"Apart from our ancestral connection, I have known Grand Duke Jean since 1954. As you know, his father was a half-brother of Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon-Parma, the wife of Tsar Ferdinand [Simeon's grandparents]. The late Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte, the wife of Grand Duke Jean, was a member of the Belgian royal family, in other words, a Saxe-Coburg and Gotha."
Will this be your first visit to Luxembourg to celebrate the wedding at the grand ducal court.
"I visited Luxembourg several times in the forties and fifties. Not only is there the beauty of the country, Luxembourg is in a more than enviable position -- not only for its economic and cultural advancement, but also in tradition and Luxembourg law. Values that are important for the endurance and progress of each country."
What do you wish for the Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy on their marriage?
"My wife and I wish the bride and groom what one wishes all young married couples -- a life long together. In addition we want the married couple to at least match the golden wedding my wife and I were lucky to celebrate this year."
