Duke of Cumberland protests

March 14, 1907

The Duke of Cumberland, heir to the Brunswick duchy,  entered a protest today against the Diet of of the Duchy of March 12, when it was "unanimously decided to elected a regent in succession to the late Prince Albrecht of Prussia."   The Duke is excluded from the succession "because he will not give up his claim" to the throne of Hannover.  He filed the protest because his son, Prince Ernst August, was excluded from succeeding to the Brunswick throne, reports the New York Times.
