The New York Times has published Queen Victoria's reply "to the address of Parliament to the Throne" with reference to the assassination of King Umberto of Italy.
The Queen has thanked Parliament for the address, and says: "I united with you in the expression of indignation and deep concern at the tidings of the assassination of my illustrious ally, the King of Italy. I have not failed to convey to his successor your sentiments of such a time and your sympathy with the royal family, Government, and the people of that country."
