August 10, 1890
I am going to assume that following meant something very different in 1890, and Crown Prince Victor Emmanuel did not have an Oedipus complex.
According to the Chicago Daily Tribune, the Crown Prince of Italy is a devoted lover of his beautiful and clever mother." When he is away from her, he "sends two long telegrams of her each day beside writing her a letter. Like Queen Margherita, the Crown Prince "speaks and writes fluently French, English and German."
Queen Margherita and King Umberto are first cousins. Victor Emmanuele, Prince of Naples, is their only child. He will celebrate his 21st birthday in November.
