Members of the Habsburg family has "finally lost in the [Polish] Supreme Court its claims against the Polish State to recover its estates in former Austrian Poland," according to the New York Times.
The value of the land is "estimated at several million dollars." Poland confiscated all of the Habsburg property in that territory following the execution of the Treaty of Saint Germain.
However, Archdukes Friedrich, Albrecht and Josef, all of whom are now Polish citizens, "maintained that only dynastic estates could be confiscated under the treaty," and not the private property of "individual members of the family."
The archdukes now intend to "claim indemnification from the former allied powers."
